Glenavon get their hands on Canadian keeper

Glenavon have signed Canadian goalkeeper Massimo Schiavoni from St James’ Swifts.

He had previously been on the books of Notre-Dame-de-Grace FC in Montreal and Dunmurry Rec.

It follows the news earlier today that Declan Brown had rejoined Queen’s University.

“Massimo came to a few of our training sessions and our goalkeeper coaches Jonny and Reggie had spoken quite highly of him,” Gary Hamilton said of the 19-year-old.

“Obviously with Decky on his way back to Queen’s, we needed someone in to fill in his place and give Jamesy [Taylor] a bit of competition and a bit of drive for the position so it will be good to have him here.”
