Glenavon have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Rory Brown.

But the Lurgan Blues have also confirmed the departure of midfielder Jack O’Mahony.

Brown spent last season on loan at Ballinamallard United from Glentoran. He had joined the East Belfast club from Institute.

Glenavon boss Gary Hamilton said he was “happy” to have signed the 22-year-old shotstopper.

“He’s a good player and he’s at a good age too,” he told Glenavon’s website, adding that his youthfulness meant that the club will be in a position to “get a lot out of him”.

“I’ve been looking at him since he was at Institute, but he was snapped up by Glentoran and got the experience of full time football there,” the Mourneview Park club’s boss added.

“He then went out on loan to Ballinamallard at the start of this season after we tried snapping him up, however Glentoran were looking a fee.

“He’s at the stage where we can get the best out of him using the coaching staff that we have in Johnny [Pollock] and Reggie [Hillen], who were praised by Josh Clarke after working with him.”

In confirming O’Mahony’s departure, Hamilton added, “We offered a new contract to Jack, which he declined. He wanted to look elsewhere, so we wish him all the best for the future.”
