Lurgan Celtic 2-1 Castlecaulfield
It was celebration time for Lurgan Celtic after they saw off Tyrone side Castlecaulfield in Armagh to lift the John Magee Memorial Cup.
A sizeable support travelled to the game from Lurgan and they were not to be disappointed.
The game got off to a tentative start, with Celtic missing captain Niall Lavery and defender Conor McCann for the big game
With 10 minutes on the clock Celtic took the lead through Paddy Toman when he connected with a Reynolds corner, looping a header into the Castlecaulfield net.
However, both sides were level on the half-hour mark when Castlecaulfield won possession from a Celtic throw-in. Castlecaulfield’s Lee got onto a ball across the Celtic box and swept the ball into the far corner of the net.
The winner came with just over a quarter of an hour to play when Toman beat his man before finding McConville on the volley to make it 2-1.
The victory adds to the promotion already secured by the club, having finished second in Division Three of the Mid-Ulster League to champions FC Mindwell, remarkably with a goal difference of +102!
Team: Conway; Crawford (Hagan), Haughian, Devereux, Burns; Gilmore (Douglas), McConville, Toman, McAlinden; Reynolds (D.Lavery) Withers.
