Glenavon’s players have shown that they are right behind manager Gary Hamilton – and their most recent results are proof of that.
That’s according to Hamilton’s assistant Paul McAreavey, who says the marked improvement comes down to everyone involved with the playing side of affairs at Mourneview Park taking stock.
Following recent wins over Newry City and Glentoran, and a 0-0 draw over the Glens before that, the Lurgan Blues take on Coleraine this weekend hoping to maintain their good form.
“We’re hoping for the same,” said McAreavey.
“We’ve come out of a really bad time for us all over the last couple of months where we’ve all be questioning ourselves, including the management and the players.
“The performances weren’t good enough and the results weren’t good enough. We’ve been hurting really badly but the last three performances have been absolutely top drawer.
“They say in football that if you get eight players playing well you have a chance of winning a game. I think in the last three games we have had everyone including the subs coming on playing really well.
“It’s a credit to their manager. He’s been through a really tough time and the players have stood up and been counted for him.”
Rory Brown will be hoping to maintain his good form of late too. The Lurgan Blues’ shot stopper hasn’t conceded in over 270 minutes of football – something which Glenavon haven’t been able to do since December 2021.
