Former Glenavon winger Robbie Dennison is to be inducted into the Wolves Hall of Fame.

Capped 18 times for his country, Dennison swapped Mourneview Park for the Hawthornes when he joined West Bromwich Albion in September 1985.

However, just two years later he moved to Wolverhampton Wanderers, then languishing in the old Fourth Division – League Two in today’s money - in March 1987 for £20,000.

Dennison played a crucial role in helping Wolves earn back-to-back promotions and won the Associate Members’ Cup, now known as the Papa John’s Trophy, in 1988, scoring in a 2-0 win over Burnley.

He would go on to score 49 times in more than 300 appearances for Wolves and won 18 caps for Northern Ireland between 1988 and 1997.

Tweeting about the announcement, he described entering the Hall of Fame as “an honour”.

“I never thought that coming from a small village in Northern Ireland I'd play for such a fantastic club for over 10 years and be recognised as a part of its history,” he said.

“Thank you to everyone who has been a part of my journey.”

Robbie’s induction will take place on April 28 at the Wolves’ Former Players’ Association dinner.
