DUP MP Carla Lockhart and local DUP Councillors have given a warm welcome to progress being made towards a new all-inclusive playpark in Gilford.

The local MP said:

“A new play park for Gilford is badly needed and it is something that I, along with my colleagues on Council, have been working on for some time.

"This is a particularly exciting proposal and would see the new facility cover some 5400sq ft. It would offer something for everyone, and I particularly welcome the inclusion of equipment for those children with physical disabilities. All playparks need to be as inclusive as possible, ensuring all children have the opportunity to enjoy a fun day out at the park.  I also welcome the relocation of the park leaving it more accessible and safer.”

Councillor Paul Greenfield added:

“Parents in Gilford have been contacting me for some time around the need for a new play facility and the proposals being brought forward by Council would ensure the delivery of a first class play park in the area. I am committed to driving this project forward and trust all other parties will get behind the investment needed to make this a reality.”

Councillor Ian Wilson added:

“Play is so important for physical and mental health and development. My predecessor, the late Junior McCrum, was a great champion of the project and I am continuing the work undertaken by Junior to help make this a reality. We want to see the best play facilities right across the Borough for local children.”
