A motorist who lifted his phone while driving has been fined and points endorsed on his licence.

Brian Noel David Lowe, 33, of Collingdale in Lurgan, was before Craigavon Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

The charge of using a mobile phone while driving took place on the Tandragee Road in the town on April 14 of this year.

Defending, Peter Murphy told Deputy District Judge McNally, “The phone rang and he lifted the phone before he came to a stop. The police saw that happen.

“It was the wrong thing to do and he accepts that.”

The judge issued a fine of £75 and endorsed six points on his licence, as well imposing as the offenders' levy of £15.
