A Lurgan man, who resisted an officer and assaulted another, has been fined after pleading guilty to two charges.

The case of Dylan Chambers, (26), of Monbrief Walk, was heard at Craigavon Courthouse on Friday, September 10.

The court heard that on July 20 this year, police received a report of two glass panels being smashed at a property.

After officers located Chambers, it was stated that he walked away from police and refused to co-operate with them.

When attempting to place the defendant in handcuffs, it was explained in court that Chambers ran away and then struck an officer in the face.

In his defence, the court was told that Chambers had been at a friends house and consumed alcohol which was a major factor in the incident taking place.

The defence also explained that Chambers took “full responsibility” for what happened and that he wished to get the matter resolved as his employment was important for him.

District Judge Bernie Kelly imposed £200 fines each for assault on police and resisting police.
