A Dromore man, who had six grams of cannabis in his possession, has been fined.

The case of Corey McKitterick, (23), of Wallace Park, was heard at Craigavon Courthouse on Wednesday, October 6.

The court heard that on May 18 this year, mobile patrol officers on Rowantree Road, Dromore, stopped a vehicle for a search and could smell a scent of cannabis.

The search found 6 grams of cannabis on the defendant, with a street value of around £50 and McKitterick admitted it was for his personal use.

Defence counsel Peter Canavan explained that the defendant made full admissions at the scene and had used this offence “as a wake up call”. It was also stated that the defendant hasn’t used cannabis since being charged.

Deputy District Judge Greg McCourt told the defendant “you are foolish for getting involved in drugs” and imposed a fine of £150 and a destruction order for the drug.
