A Lurgan man, who had a mix up with his no claims bonus and subsequently had his insurance policy cancelled, has had his case heard at Craigavon Courthouse.

Neville Bernard Massey, (60), of Portadown Road, pleaded guilty to driving without insurance at the sitting on Friday, October 8.

The court heard that on March 27 this year, the defendant was detected travelling a Ford Transit van on Edward Street, Lurgan, without a valid insurance policy.

In his defence, the court was told that Massey had the same insurer for 13 years but changed, and after a complication relating to no claim bonuses, his policy was cancelled.

Despite failing to realise this had happened, the defendant’s solicitor advised that there was “no malicious intent” by his client.

District Judge Bernie Kelly imposed a £200 fine and six penalty points for the offence.
