A Portadown man is to face Crown Court proceedings next month in relation to a charge of burglary (non-dwelling).

Sean Paul O’Callaghan, (33), of William Street, appeared at Craigavon Courthouse on Wednesday, January 12 for the purposes of a preliminary enquiry – the legal process during which a case is referred to the higher court.

O’Callaghan faces an allegation of having an entered as a trespasser the cashier area of Savoy Gaming in Portadown stole £1,000 therein on August 9 last year.

Prosecution submitted that based on the papers before the court there was a prima facie case to answer.

Defence counsel made no contrary submissions.

District Judge Greg McCourt, satisfied there was a prima facie case to answer, released the defendant on bail on the same terms to appear at Craigavon Crown Court on February 17.
