A case in which a Portadown man is accused of a serious assault is to be transferred to crown court for trial.

Francis Duffy (27) from Woodside Green is charged with unlawfully and maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm on a male during an alleged incident on 26 September last year.

A prosecuting lawyer told Craigavon Magistrates Court the case is on track for a committal hearing to take place on 6 July, and if that proceeds, Duffy is expected to be returned for trial.

District Judge Bernie Kelly remanded him on continuing bail to attend on that date.
