CCTV footage is to be obtained in the case of a thirty-six-year-old woman facing child welfare and public order charges.

The accused, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the two children in question, is accused of being drunk-in-charge of both of them, assaulting police and using disorderly behaviour.

Offending is alleged to have occurred in the Thomas Street area of Portadown on 5 November last year with court papers indicating both children to be under seven.

A defending lawyer told Craigavon Magistrates Court he intends to take his client through the CCTV footage however confirmed at this stage she denies the charges.

In response, District Judge Bernie Kelly remarked, “That doesn’t surprise me at all.”

She adjourned the case until 25 May when a contest date will be fixed.
