Lurgan’s season got underway in beautiful warm spring sunshine with Mrs Irene Cunningham, Club President unfurling the club flag followed by her delivering the first traditional bowl of the season and to mark the occasion the Club President, was presented with a bouquet of flowers by Eileen Robson.
It was the best turnout in years with almost 50 members playing in an excellent rinks tournament and John Gilliland lifting the Gents’ prize with Liz Patterson taking the Ladies’ one.
After the tournament all present were entertained to a delicious tea and refreshments in the Pavilion provided by the Club President and beautifully prepared by members of the Ladies’ Team
Next Saturday, Belfast team, Forth River, is playing the A Team and a Ladies Select away in a pre-season friendly at 2 p.m. Incidentally Lurgan’s first competitive match was against Forth River over 100 years ago.
The Green is open from Monday to Friday for practice from 2 p.m. to approximately 8 p.m. weather permitting with beginners and members being made most welcome and qualified coaching available.
