Lurgan B built on their earlier 5-point midweek success at home to 1st Ballymacarrett to win a hard fought contest away against Larne team, Curran B last Saturday by 19 shots and take home 4.5 points.

Eamonn Quinn, skip, Charlie Maguire, Simon Maguire, who had an excellent game for his first B Team match, and Albert Houston played out of their skin to win 34-13.

The Lurgan four restricted Tommy McCauley’s home rink to just 6 end wins and dominated throughout to win their game – a tremendous performance to absolutely ensure a Lurgan B win.

Mike Parr’s rink made sure of another half point. Going into the last end they needed to 2 shots and with accurate bowling they succeeded in gaining a tie at 20-20.

On Rink 4, Billy Strain’s rink were 6 shots adrift at the midpoint but recovered well to lead 17-14 with an excellent 5-shot win at the three-quarter stage to being them right back into the match.

A strong finish by the home rink over the last 3 ends saw the Lurgan four needing 3 shots to tie. With the visitors lying two shots, Billy Strain’s last bowl was just millimetres short to take another half point.

It was much the same on Peter Ruffold’s rink with it be nip and tuck all the way with his rink battling hard to be just 18-17 down after 15 ends and then to come within 2 shots of victory; losing 22-21.

The B Team is off to play Rathfriland on Saturday where they hope to maintain their new-found winning ways.
