A Craigavon man has appeared in court charged with sexually abusing a young boy and exposure.

Sean Roberts, (30), of Drumgor Park, appeared at Craigavon Courthouse sitting on Friday, December 9 for the purposes of a preliminary enquiry – the legal process during which a case is referred to a higher court.

The defendant admitted he was aware of the charges which were three counts of intentionally engaging in sexual activity with a boy under 16 and exposing his genitals to the alleged victim.

The offences are alleged to have been committed over two days between 20 and 21 February last year.

Prosecution submitted that based on the papers before the court there was a prima facie case to answer.

Defence counsel made no contrary submissions.

District Judge Bernie Kelly, satisfied there was a prima facie case to answer, released Roberts on his own bail of £500 with a number of stringent conditions to appear for arraignment at Craigavon Crown Court on January 24 next year.
